The Sleeman Sports Complex is one of Queensland's premier multi-purpose sporting and entertainment venues comprising amongst other things, the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.

The Role:
The role of the Activity Instructor (Adult Swimming Coach) is to provide swimming instruction safely either in a class or on an individual basis.

Key Duties:
  • Provide exercise/activity class or individual instruction;
  • Provide a high level of customer service;
  • Accurate and prompt completion of paperwork;
  • Ensure the relevant work area and equipment are well maintained;
  • Identify safety hazards and act to minimise risk;
  • Other duties as directed from time to time by the Health and Fitness Coordinator and/or Supervisor;
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with SQ's policies and procedures, particularly in the areas of workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, workplace harassment, bullying and discrimination.

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 years experience working as an activity instructor in the field of expertise;
  • Current First Aid and Resuscitation Certificates;
  • Appropriate qualification to instruct classes (refer to Appendix A in Position Description);
  • Registration with Fitness Queensland, Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association etc. relevant to the type of class instructed.
